Health Check will begin with a comprehensive review of your own, and your family medical history, to identify any increased risk factors.
Your doctor will do a physical examination, including BP, BMI and breast examination. The remainder of the consultation is tailored to whatever tests are relevant to you, but the following is included:
- Contraception advice
- Pre-pregnancy advice
- Cervical Check smear*
- Information on HPV
- Urinalysis for diabetes, chlamydia (if warranted)
- Bloods, if warranted (depending on medical history)
- STI Screening – Screening for sexually-transmitted infections involves taking a series of samples that are analysed for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV and syphilis. If blisters or sores are present, a sample will also be taken to check for herpes infections.
- Information on osteoporosis
- Information on menopause
- Bloods, if warranted (depending on medical history)
- Blood tests: cholesterol, anaemia, thyroid function, diabetes (others if warranted, and depending on medical history)
*Smear tests may be taken for patients who meet Cervical Check’s eligibility criteria.
